BILP Initiative Uganda has unearthed and nurtured hidden talents of several young people in the eastern districts of Busia, Bugiri and Namaingo
The marginalized youth are empowered to showcase their sports talents to enable them realize their dreams.
The NGO organized a two days football tournament at Buhehe primary in Busia district that attracted fourteen teams to showcase sports talents amongst the youth.

Wanyama James Magero founder and chief executive Director of BILP Initiative Uganda says they are committed to promote sports as a tool for development and positive social transformation by bringing youth and their communities together to achieve lasting peace.
“We use sports in promoting life skills and economic empowerment, gender equality and social inclusion” He remarked
He said through participation in sports and education the NGO provide safe spaces, health, and well-being of individuals
“We collaborate with local governments and other operating partners including schools, sports clubs and academies, donors and private companies with the same vision of promoting sports” He said
Magero revealed that the NGO has made remarkable impact in the lives of more than 10,000 children who have been reached directly and indirectly through its various development interventions in the sectors of education, health, and livelihood, environment and youth development.
“The presence of the NGO has helped improve child welfare, especially in the areas of education and health using sports.” He said
The child rights activist assured the public of continuous support to promote the education of marginalized children in society as well as protecting them against all forms of maltreatment.
Mr magero revealed that BILP Initiative Ugandais to construct a multi-purpose sports and educational excellence Centre to improve social and educational welfare of Busia district and eastern region as a whole
The integrated sport centers will provide an excellent opportunity to the youth to learn and refine their skills in various sports.
He said their work shows them on a daily basis that football has the power to change lives and believes football is a powerful tool with the potential to tackle challenges entailed in each of the 17 SDGs.
The Buhehe sub county parish priest Rev. Karara Justine said BILP Initiative Uganda is Christian founded and it mentors the youth based on biblical principles
He said the church is working in partnership with the NGO to address complexities of misinformation, disinformation, and malformation on online platforms that pose a danger to young generation,
The clergy advised teachers and parents to empower children to protect themselves against harmful online content.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by all United Nations member states are an inclusive agenda and believes sport, including football, has proven to be a cost-effective and flexible tool in promoting peace and development objectives.
